Sydney District Court – June 2015
Our client instructed us to enter a plea of guilty to an animal cruelty charge. We appeared for her sentencing in the Local Court, but unfortunately the Chief Magistrate could not be persuaded to deal with the matter without conviction.
Determined to maintain a clean record, the client instructed us to appeal the severity of her sentence to the District Court. When we appeared, the judge did not take long to be persuaded, and ordered that the matter be dismissed with under section 10(1)(a), leaving our client with a clean record and not even subject to a good behaviour bond.
